Over the centuries, the city has served as a crossroads for diverse civilizations—Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans have all left their unique imprints on its architecture and traditions. The charming old town, Kaleiçi, with its narrow cobbled streets, historic houses, and ancient walls, narrates tales of a glorious past.
